Longies & Lucy-love

I've been meaning to post a picture of Easy E in his awesome new longies, so here it is -

Cute, huh?  They're a little big, as expected, but they're working just fine thankyouverymuch.  Plus, they are a tad stretched out right now from being yanked over some fully-stuffed GoodMama's diapers, which are obviously pretty big.  And I can't help but smile every time I look at them since they were made from my most favorite sweater of all time.  Now my kid has J. Crew on his butt.  Nice.

I just went back and found some cute pictures of Ez and Lucy together...

I thought that second one was cute.  She loves to lick his face & he generally seems pretty happy about the whole situation, though it's hard to see that here ;-)

Twenty-nine

Last Friday was my (first) 29th birthday.

Ezra woke up nice & happy, as usual.  We had our normal morning of some diaper-free time, play time, snuggles and some more breakfast, with a big side of smiles.  I really hit the jackpot with this kid, man.

Then we both got cleaned up and headed over to Jordan's office.  I had a microdermabrasion appointment and Ezra had some socialization time with all of his adoring fans in the office and at the salon.  Dude, that kid gets all the attention :)  He had a great time walking around, being fawned over.  I believe Jordan used the term chick-magnet.  Um-hmm.

My microderm treatment was awesome.  My dull, uneven skin was transformed.  It's 2 1/2 days later and it's still much smoother, more even and has way more color.  I'm a huge fan.

Ezra fell asleep on the way home...

...so I took advantage.  I'm embarrassed to say, left him to nap in his carseat while I painted my toenails for the first time since Jenna's wedding in January.  He got a nice 30 minute nap & my toenails look 87% better.

Disregard the whiteness of my legs and feet.  It's March.  And I'm naturally nearly translucent.

Then he woke up and we played some more.
Here's me and Ez.

And here's Ez trying to get me to stop singing.

After some more playtime, chowtime, and napping, we had cake.  Well, Jordan and I had cake.  Coldstone ice cream cake.  Cake batter ice cream with raspberries, devil's food cake, white whipped cream icing, topped with cookie dough and garnished with rainbow sprinkles.  YUM.  Oh my goodness.  It's so good, we get it ever year ;-)

And here's my Brodie.  He wasn't too excited about my birthday this year.  Perhaps it's because he didn't get any cake?

Here's Lucy.  She's so pretty.  Also, not too thrilled about my b-day.  I know it's due to the lack of cake.

All in all, it was a wonderful day :)

Bad Television and Puppy Love

You will judge me for what you're about to read.  And you should.

I'm addicted to the worst show on television.  I mean, the absolute worst.  It's wretched.  Bad storylines, even worse acting...'tis bad.  Not even Molly Ringwald (she plays the mom) can save it - though nobody ever accused her of being a good actress.  It's The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Having my ass glued to the couch during Ez's naps lately has caused me to revisit my old pal Netflix.  For some reason, it decided that I'd like this show, so I gave it a shot.  I almost couldn't watch the first episode -- it was that awful.  But then it happened.  I got hooked.  I'm saying all of this because if you ever find yourself needing to watch something that is a cross between a trainwreck and a really bad afterschool special, this will cure what ails you.

Phew.  I feel better getting that off my chest.

People are always asking how Ezra and the dogs get along.  From the very beginning, the dogs have been pretty nonchalant about having Little Man around.  Sure, they'd come up, sniff him or occasionally lick him.  For the most part, I think they were really just pissed that they weren't getting 100% of the attention anymore.

The past couple months, Ezra has been focusing more and more on the dogs.  Especially Lucy.  Maybe it's because she's small and usually on the couch.  Maybe it's because she likes to hang out with him on his activity mat (I think she likes the drool and spit up smells).  Either way, he's begun lunging at her, grabbing her ears, squeezing her, yanking her fur out (by way of his gorilla-strength grip, of course), etc...and it's hilarious.  He does it to Brodie, too, but just not as often.  Both dogs seem to be happy to have the attention from him, so neither seems to care much.

Here's a few shots of Ez and Brodie from the other night.

Oh, hey.  That ear looks good, I think I'll try a little bit...

You wanna snuggle?  I wanna snuggle.  Let's snuggle.

Please.  Get.  The.  Kid.  Off.  Ma.  Ear.  Now.  GethimoffnowbeforeIfreakout!

A Brodie + banana bread + Ezra =

Yesterday, I walked into the living room to find this...

Oh yeah.  Live it up now, Brodie.  Fur up that couch all you can before I replace it & institute a No-Dogs-Allowed-On-The-Couch policy.

Right.  Like that'll happen.

I had some perfectly overripe bananas taking up some valuable real estate on my tiny kitchen table, so I used them to make this super-yummy banana bread last night.  I think I used about 1/4 cup extra banana and I'm glad I did.  The texture is awesome.  The oats help a lot with that, too.

You're gonna want to make it.  And you should.

I just saw a teaser for an upcoming weather forecast - saying that San Diego may be feeling more like Chicago this weekend.  Just in time for me to find out that I left my Peekaru at my Dad's house in Maine.  Nice.  I guess I'll just be bundling Ezra up before I stuff him in the wrap :)

Here's some pictures of Little Man from today -- post-haircut.  I think he looks like such a grown-up little boy now.  I'm a little sad about that.

Shut up.

Oh, hey!  Check out how I sit up in the rocker now.

Rest assured, the fauxhawk is still in place, just shorter and more even.

And here's a couple from our playtime this morning. This kid is so much fun.

1st Haircut!

Yep, you read that right.

Easy-E got a haircut yesterday.  It wasn't nearly as eventful as you may be thinking.  It took all of 2.5 minutes and was really more of a trim than a cut.  I mean, Pauli cut about an inch off from the right side and the top/front, but it was just to even it out a bit.  He really looked like 2 different kids if you looked at him from one side, then the other.  Now it's a bit more uniform and a little less Joe Dirt-like.

I love the side-eye he's giving in the last one.  Though he wasn't crazy about having his head held still, he did really well - which is probably a good thing since I have a feeling we'll be doing it again in a couple months :)

5 Months!

Guess who is 5 months old today?!

Here's some more that I couldn't resist...

And here's another one I took earlier today just for funsies.  He's just so darn cute & happy :)

Can you believe he's already 5 months old?  Seriously.  My wee, little man is getting so big, so fast.  Make it stop!

Stop Sweating in the Risotto!

Tonight, I made this mushroom risotto.  Vegetarian, of course - which only meant veggie stock in place of chicken broth in this case.  We both really liked it.  Lots of mushrooms, rich, earthy flavor...definitely something I'll make again.

If you know me, you know that I love Gordon Ramsay.  So, naturally, the entire time I was making the risotto, I kept hearing Chef Ramsay shouting Bloody hell!  You're sweating in the risotto!  You donkey!  And then I started hearing it as my brother doing his (bad) rendition of Chef Ramsay.  Then I started laughing.

We spent another afternoon looking around at some new places.  I'm finding that my love for San Diego is growing - it's just so great to keep finding these little pockets of awesome throughout the city.  Now if only a house the size of my first (one-bedroom!) apartment didn't cost a not-so-small-fortune, we'd be all set :)

Here's a few pictures we snapped of the boy.
