Sunday Fun-day!

Ezra took his first trip to the zoo today. He stayed awake until we got to the warthogs and meerkats, which means about 20 minutes. But at least he got a good nap out of it. And I had my very own personal space heater attached to me to keep me toasty. Check it out...

And here's what we saw as we made our way up Sun Bear Trail.
It's exactly what you think it is. That's love, folks.

Later, the same guys gave me a look that almost made me delete that last photo. Almost.

Easy-E decided to wake up when I took him out of his super-cozy cocoon of warmth. So naturally I documented the occasion.

Promotional shot for the Cutest Little Boy in the World contest. Let's be honest, he'd totally win.

Smiley Ezra.

And finally, Gangsta Ez.
Or sleepy Ezra, depending on how you look at it...and depending on what neighborhood we're driving through.

Pictures. Just pictures.

Good Morning!

Mom is SO funny!

Hmm, can I hear the specials again?

I think I'll have the Rooty-Tooty-Fresh-and-Fruity. Hold the bacon and gimme a chocolate milk, please.
Another baby-doll pose. I'm getting good at these.

9 weeks

EZ-Rider had a visit with Vickii this afternoon. He gained a little. 2.5 ounces in 6 days, to be exact.

I know what you're thinking..."Aren't you driving yourself crazy with feeding this little milk-monster ALL DAY LONG?" And the answer is a resounding Yes. Oh my god, yes. I was certain, certain, that we'd done our job and he had gained enough this week. Over this next week, I may actually go insane...but the kid will gain some weight. Oh, he will. Let's keep up those chunky-baby thoughts, too.

I'll let you know how that turns out. You know, if I maintain the ability to form complete sentences after this.

Oh, the boy did grow -- he's 22 inches long now! For those of you keeping score, he's up 2 inches now. Hey, 2 inches is a lot when your parents are as short as Ezra's ;-)

Here's the man of the hour...and his crazy hair.

**Disclaimer: This post has nothing to do with Ezra or the dogs. I understand that this may be a deal-breaker for many of you, and that you have probably already stopped reading this. Sorry to disappoint. But, I mean, the next best thing to Ezra is food, right?

Thanksgiving is Thursday. As if I needed to remind anyone of that. I love Thanksgiving. Last year, we ate Thanksgiving dinner for at least a week. I think all but one or two of the things I made were from the one and only Pioneer Woman (aka my hero)...and it was awesome. I've really scaled back on the amount of serious cooking that I'm doing this year. I know that I'll just be disappointed in myself if I don't get to make everything I've planned, so I'm setting my sights a little lower. Sad? Yes. Will I still be making some delicious food and subsequently eating it for days? You're damn right.
A couple of the favorites that will be making an appearance this year will be:
Cornbread Stuffing
Pastor Ryan's Roasted Carrots

I'm thinking we'll be trying out this Spaghetti Squash recipe in place of last year's Sweet-Roasted, Rosemary Acorn Squash. While it was really good, I'm not a huge fan of acorn squash, so I think we'll be trying something new this year. This Spinach with Garlic Chips may or may not be making a cameo as well. Yum. Oh, and some super awesome, 2-heads-of-roasted-garlic-and-whatever-herbs-I-have-in-my-"garden"-mashed-potatoes. No link for that, because clearly, they're just mashed potatoes.

I really miss the Sage Mushroom gravy that we used to get from Whole Foods back in Dallas. We tried finding it here last year with no luck. Bah-Humbug.

So, the reason I shared this info with you is so that you might check out PW's site. She's pretty awesome and so is her food. I'm a fan. And you should be too.

Pioneer Woman
Check it, yo.

2 Months!

Wee-Man is 2 months today! Two whole months. I thought I was shocked when we hit one month...I'm nearly unable to comprehend this one. Two months...really? And next month (I can't even say that one)...we'll already be in Maine for Christmas. Christmas? Time is flying and I can barely keep up.

Ezra is amazing. He's such a great baby. Sure, he eats a LOT - which wears me out...but it only serves to make me love him even more. We get way more one-on-one time than I'd expected and I couldn't be happier with that. He's a pretty cool little guy.

Pretty much my favorite person. Ever.

(Sorry, Jordan)

Here's a shot of our man, in all his floppy, sleeping glory. The guy can sleep. You know...when he wants to. It's nearly impossible to wake him up when he's out like this. Clearly. I mean, that's the kitchen floor you see in the background - because he doesn't care one tiny bit if you carry him around/snap photos/do chores/etc while he sleeps. /

And here's another sleeping-baby shot. Mouth WIDE open, as usual. What a cutie.

Aaand, here's his 2-month pictures!

When asked how old he was, our little genius pointed to the "2 months" on his shirt! Okay, not really. But it's still a cute picture.

Full-length shot...mini-man is getting so big!

He's all smiles these days!

Giggle-time!

And finally, a cute outtake...

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Ezra got to visit with Vickii today...and he gained 6 ounces! We're back on track and holding steady now for 2 weeks in a row. My little man is making progress and even has a few little (okay, very little) chunk rolls on his thighs! It's all very cute. He's so happy that he decided to take a nap. Thank god, because he's been eating every hour, on the hour, since before 5 o'clock this morning. I love him dearly, but I'm thankful for the (short) break.
**********
Mini-man is smiling all the time now. It's just too damn cute, I can hardly stand it. He laughs when I tickle his belly and make ridiculous faces at him. Perhaps he's just humoring me with the faces. I don't care -- I'll take it however I can get it ;-)
**********
Here's Ezra, snoozin' on me as I type this...

And here he is in the Moby yesterday (he always ends up sleeping when he's wrapped)...

And another sleepy Ez pic from a couple nights ago...

He's official!

Our wee-man got his birth certificate yesterday! Though it was hardly a momentous occasion for him, I'm pretty happy. Now we get to spend some QT down at the Social Security Office to get his SSN, then apply for his passport and he'll be all set!
**********
I recently came across a few recipes that need to be made. One is Chocolate Cheesecake Candy Cane Bars and the other is Oatmeal Cream Cheese Butterscotch Bars. Clearly I'm going to be fighting an uphill battle, as my ass won't be getting any smaller if I make and subsequently chow down on these.
**********
I had a win today...I got to hang out an entire load of diapers today while Ez was napping! Usually I'll get through about 5 minutes of any chore and he wakes up, ready to eat again. Things that previously took 20 minutes to complete, now can last all day. Not complaining - just making an observation. Mini-man is worth it ;-)

Another observation - after a few washes without being hung out to sun-bleach, the dipes were looking a little rough. The BumGenius AIO's are the only ones that don't stain so far. Thankfully, it's sunny pretty much year-round here, so as long as I'm not lazy about it, we can keep his butt-covers nice & pretty.
**********
And here's your reward for getting through my ramblings...

Oh...Hey! (I'm a very happy kid.)

More evidence of my happiness.

Further proof.

But sometimes I'll make this face when Brodie startles me by barking at the mailman.

Mom is awful for taking this picture and then picking me up. Horrible, terrible mom.

Pics - crazy hair and all

Our birth class reunion was great! We made some really cute babies. I did fail to get a single picture, though, as Ez decided he wanted to eat for a good majority of the time we were there. Mike, one of the dads, did manage to get some great shots of each of the babies, so hopefully I'll be able to get ahold of them to share.

And here's the boy, since that's why you're here...

Oh, hey!

This is my best doll-pose.

Smiles anyone?

Midnight snacks make me giggly!

Tummy-tickles get me every time!

Good News!

8lbs 8oz! That's E-Man's latest weight. Did you hear that? That was my huge sigh of relief. If this past week (of nearly zero sleep and constant feeding) hadn't gotten us anywhere, I'm pretty sure I was all set to go insane. But he did it. Once again, keep up the chunky-baby-thoughts. We appreciate them ;-)

I've been given orders to post more pictures of the boy, so here ya go...

This is my serious face.

This is me with my party pants on. Actually, I'm not even wearing pants. So, this is me dancing. I'm a dancing fool.

This is me waving my left hand.

This is me wondering when Mom is going to put away the camera. Enough already!

And this is me laughing. Okay, so it's a little blurry. Whatev.

**********
Last night, little man slept for almost 3 hours. At one time. Holy shit, dude. I haven't experienced that much sleep in awhile now. Granted, I woke up every time he stirred a little, but it was mostly uninterrupted. And it was blissful. He seemed pretty pleased to not be woken up, too. Funny thing, he wakes up just before each alarm that I set for him goes off. He's psychic. One more reason I'm pretty sure I've landed myself the coolest kid ever.
**********
I got to get my hair cut yesterday. Which means Jordan got to show off Ezra to everyone at the office (it's connected to the salon). Ez slept the whole time (thank you, boob-coma) but I like to think he heard all the Oooh's and Ahhh's as people fawned over him. And once again, as soon as I was done, he woke up, ready to eat. Psychic, I tell you.
**********
We're going to our Bradley birth class reunion Saturday evening (which reminds me that I need to bake!). Lots of cute babies. No doubt he'll be the smallest - he was the last to arrive and, well...the kid is little. Hopefully we'll get some good pictures of Ez with his friends.

And yes, I'll try to get more pictures up more often, I got it ;-)

6 weeks

Ezra's official weigh-in today didn't go near as well as the last one. He's up to 8lbs, .5oz. Not even close to what we were expecting. How can a kid who nurses ALL day and night not be a little fatty-bo-batty by now, you ask? I have no idea. I know I'm exhausted from feeding him so much. Apparently we have a disconnect somewhere. Next week will be better. Let's all think happy-fat-baby thoughts this week and maybe that'll help :-) All together now...

Angela has finally made it back to San Diego. It's about damn time, too. It sucks when someone so great is always so far away...and I'm super happy to have her back -- even if it is only for a couple days. My new mission (aside from bulking up the babe) is to find her a great job out here so she has to move back. For good. No more of this talk of living in Texas. Who the hell lives in Texas by choice?

Ezra is pleased to have another person fawning over him. I think he likes the attention from someone other than Mama. He turns on the charm. He's a charmer.

In other news, we've officially booked our flights to Maine for Christmas. It's on, folks. Get ready. Ezra is taking the Northeast by storm, beginning on December 21. I don't think Dad has any idea what he's in for. The cuteness is overwhelming :-)

Next to book -- tickets to Texas for Jenna & Travis's wedding. We may be staying for an extra day if we can book some time with the fabulous Cesar and/or Tanya (our wedding photogs) for a session with Ezra. He's too cute not to document and they take the most amazing photos ever. EVER.

Here's what you really came here for. I mean, let's be honest. Even my own mother only looks at the pictures these days...
