Weekend Wrap-Up

We met up with our Bradley birth class families this weekend for a picnic at the park.  It was a great time - all the babies are getting so big!  One kid is walking, one is turning one year old next month, and they are all remarkably adorable.  I managed to get exactly 0 pictures of the event.  I know.  I suck.  I'll see if I can steal some from the other, more responsible parents ;-)

Easy E was not a happy kid for about 80% of the time we were there.  He'd fallen asleep for his 1st nap in the car on the way there, but was promptly woken up when we arrived.  This caused him to go ahead and let it be known that he was, in fact, Mayor McFuss of Fussytown, Cranklyn, California.  Every time someone would try to hold him or we'd try to take a picture, he'd cry like you took away his favorite toy.  If I was holding him, feeding him, or just sitting right behind him, he was pleased as pie.  It seemed as if I had my hands on a real Mama's Boy.

He fell asleep just as we were driving away.  Turns out, he's cranky around others if he misses out on some much needed sleep.  Poor kid.

Here's a cute shot of him and Lucy from today.  No, he's not wearing a diaper and no, his onesie is not fastened.  Sometimes, a boy just needs to air out :)

No, I'm not harassing the dog.  Why do you ask?

He just looks so damn cute in his little sleeveless onesies.  He actually had on some Nike basketball shorts today with that onesie (see?  They're behind him on the floor...).  He truly looked like he was ready to go play ball.

A Funny

I've mentioned before that I'm morally opposed to WalMart.

That will not stop me from laughing hysterically whenever this commercial comes on.  I mean, seriously.  These little girls are freakin hilarious.

**********
A couple of my chocolate cherry tomatoes are almost ripe!  I'm pretty psyched about that.  It almost makes up for the disappointment that my big beef tomatoes are bringing.  I should say tomato...as in, singular.  Eh.
**********
Here's a couple pictures I've been holding on to --

Oh hey!  I like peas!

And here's a sweet one from Father's Day evening.  Ez woke up while I was getting ready for bed, so Jordan rocked him back to sleep.  Notice the amount of sweat on Ezra's head...the kid is a space heater in a baby.

9 Months!

Wow.

I know I say it all the time...but seriously?  9 months?  When?  How?

My boy is 9 months old today.  That's 3/4 of a year.  273.93 days.

Here he is, in all his 9 month old glory -

The wii remote is probably his favorite thing to chew on these days...

He worked really hard at not smiling for me outside today -

On his way to the ground...

Aaannndd he's down!

I had to include this one -- he just looks so damn precious.  Especially with those ridiculous eyelashes...

Turning 9 months old is serious business, people.  Serious.

A few tidbits about Mini Man...

He still loves the dogs.  Especially Lucy.  And she seems to really love him, too.
He's funny.  Really.  Makes me laugh all.the.time.
His love of pears is only surpassed by his love of summer squash.
Okay, even that is surpassed by his admiration for milk.  Mama's milk, that is.
He has been loving his walks in the stroller - complete with flower/color lessons along the way.
His two top teeth are just as perfect as his two bottom teeth.  And just as sharp, too.
He does this thing when he laughs sometimes...where he sucks in air while laughing, which causes him (and us) to laugh even more.  It's a great time.
Dogparks are among his favorite places to be.
While he still really seems to love Dr. Suess books, he has been enjoying his Berenstain Bears books a lot these days.
He instantly starts laughing, wiggling, and dancing when I show him a Yo Gabba Gabba video on YouTube.  He loves DJ Lance the most.
He takes jumping in his jumperoo very seriously.
He's the most amazing person I've ever met.  And I tell him daily.
I love, love, love this kid.  Love.

Oldies but Goodies

My landlord and his handyman have been renovating the neighbor's place for the past couple weeks.  They like to start at 7am sharp.

Is it just me, or isn't that a tad early to start with the powertools?  Especially on the days Ez doesn't get up until 7:30ish or later and I'd otherwise be sleeping.  This makes me pissy.  Pissy, pissy, pissy.

Alright, done complaining.

**********
Here's a bunch of videos I'd sort of forgotten about.  They date back several months...to a time when I was getting about 2 hours of combined sleep every 24 hours and Ezra was just itty-bitty.

I will admit that I got all teary-eyed watching them.  He was SO little.  And skinny.  And fragile-looking.  And freakin adorable.  Gah, he was adorable.  And still is.  Even more so, if that's possible ;-)

A Tale of Two Phones (and a video!)

Back before Ez was born, I broke up with my iphone.  Oh, it wasn't a decision I was happy about.  iphone and I had had so many great times together.  Ahh...the apps... Shake-n-Spell, NYTimes Crosswords, Words with Friends, Urban Spoon....I had too many favorites to mention.

It wasn't the iphone, it was me.  In an effort to save a couple bucks a month, I decided to give it up.  My contract was up, so I downgraded my plan, switched out my simcard and proceeded to go through iphone withdrawls.  I can't tell you how many times we'd be out somewhere, get lost and need directions.  Know what's got GPS?  Yep, my old phone.  Damnit.

It became a glorified ipod (which just made me incredibly sad)...until last night.  You see, 3 days ago, I tried to charge my old, 1990's-doesn't-even-have-a-qwerty-keyboard-crappy phone.  After a day of it being completely silent, I realized it had finally just given up.

It did not choose life, my friends.

Because I haven't got any other old, crappy phones laying around, I decided to go ahead and pop that simcard right back into the phone it should be in.  Oh, I think I may have teared up a bit.  After disabling 3G, enabling wi-fi and changing a few other settings, I partially have my iphone back!  Granted, I still can't get onto my own damn network at home (I'm working on it)...but for god's sake, I can text again without squinting and tap-tap-tapping using that stupid T9.  Oh.Ma.God, do I despise that.

Anyways, I'm just waiting to start getting the threatening texts from those wallet-raping robots at AT&T, telling me that my iphone cannot be used without their ridiculous iphone data plan.  I've heard this is what happens...and you know what?  I don't care.  I've fulfilled my contract.  They can suck it.

I know you're wondering...Did I just read that?  Why?  Why, oh, why?  The answer is simple.  You thought there might be a picture of Ez at the end.  But I'll do you one better...here's a video.  It's from a couple weeks ago.

A little explanation - Ez started doing this thing where he would pick his head up & extend back...then laugh his head off.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  It went on for awhile before I thought to grab the camera.  He'd  simmered down a bit, especially in just how violently he was tossing his head back, so the hilarity of it is diminished a tad...but you can imagine ;-)  Actually, it's kind of super-funny that he's barely doing anything but still things just looking up is hilarious.

Sundays were made for parks

Not too much was happening around town this morning/afternoon, so we took the opportunity to let Brodie enjoy some time at the dogpark.  Which, of course, means time for Ez to enjoy watching some dogs enjoy their time at the dogpark ;-)

First, he pulled the blanket back so he could dig, scratch and pull the grass.

He then took a break from ripping the grass from the earth to watch some dogs play.  Ez loves dogs.

Shortly after I took this, a cocker spaniel mix came over, smelled us and our blanket...and promptly squatted and peed.  The owner was pretty embarrassed, but hey, it's a dog park.  Pee happens.

Here's Brodie.  Dude's getting old.  He managed to run around a bit but it wasn't too long before he was looking for a nice, soft, cool spot to lay down.

Jordan and Ezra had a bit of a Lion King moment...

Then they had a color lesson with the jacaranda tree.  It's become quite a habit to stop and talk about all the different colors we see when we go out for walks and to the park.  The kid is on his way to becoming a world-renowned horticulturist.

Ez was looking rather ginger against the green grass.

And what day at the park would be complete without a little upside-down time?

After a little lunch for Ezra and some running/fetching/humping time for Brodie, we walked around Southpark for a bit.  Ez managed to fall asleep (yay nap!), so it was a total win.  During our stroll, we noticed an empty building with some Stone Brewery logos and fliers.  Turns out, I think they're opening up a brewpub there.  Pretty freakin awesome.  Looks like we may be resuming our house-hunt, with a focus on Southpark again ;-)

A Saturday Stroll

I'm in the middle of a Swamp People marathon, thanks to Netflix ;-)  OhMaGod.  These people are awesome.  And by awesome, I mean insane.

Because of the high-caliber programming that currently is keeping me from going to bed, I'm just going to give you a few pictures I/we took today.

The kid has some beautiful eyes.

Me and my E-Z, enjoying a little warm sunshine before the sunset.

I had to include this one -- he looks like such a little boy here!

All strapped in and ready for his evening walk :)

Ezra thought it might be fun to walk Lucy himself...
Okay, not really.  Jordan looped Lucy's leash through the roll-bar on Ez's stroller.  With me steering, that little beast pulled the stroller for almost the whole walk!  That's 10lbs of hardcore chihuahua right there.

A taste of June Gloom

We experienced some June Gloom today.  Grey all day.  No sunshine.  Eh.

Really though, we've been having such amazing weather for months that I truly can't complain.  I mean, it was still hovering right around 68 degrees, so it was still pretty great.  We didn't even have our typical May Grey, save for a couple of not-quite-as-spectacular days.  The only reason I'm only a little umphy about it is because I couldn't sun Ez's diapers today.  No sun = stained diapers...temporarily.
**********
Ez got to spend some time soaking up the love of his adoring fans at the office & salon today.  Dude, that kid is like a magnet.  People can't help but love up on him :)  And I managed to get a haircut from the amazing Eddie.  Double win.

Here's Jordan tickling Ez...the kid was eating.it.up.

And here's my wild-haired little munchkin.  That smile, man.  It kills me dead :)

Ezra & Potsy, sittin' in a tree...k-i-s-s-i-n-g...

My mom sent Ezra this awesome toy - Potsy.  It sings and talks and makes all kinds of ridiculous sounds...and Ezra adores it.  We all know I have a thing for food toys, so I'm kind of partial to it as well :)
Look Ma!  Broccoli!

He's so mischievous!

Fiesta Del Sol

On Sunday, we drove a few miles up the road to Solana Beach to check out their Fiesta Del Sol.  It was your typical San Diego street fair - lots of local, handmade items for sale, music, some slightly out of place small business booths, and some truly delicious food.  Plus, it was a block from the beach...awesome :)

Check out how his hair just naturally flies into a hawk :)

He kept throwing his head back and laughing at the sun.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

Ezra was nicely slathered in his California Baby SPF 30 and sunglasses, so he stayed nice & baby-pale.  I, on the other hand, have added another layer to my not-at-all-attractive farmer's tan...complete with a very red neck.  That's right, folks.  You can take the girl out of Southern Maryland, but you can't take the Southern Maryland out of the girl ;-)

These teeth are apparently driving Easy-E mad.  Poor kid.  He seriously is taking it so well - he just gets frustrated from the pain, I think.  He has been showing off his new chompers to every one that will pay attention though :)  Such a happy kid.

Bathtime...and a tooth!

We had some bathtime fun a couple nights ago.  He's a big, BIG fan of bathtime.

Man, this kid has some hair.

And here's Ez yesterday morning.  He looks like a chub here, but I'm thinking it's just the angle.  Oh, and Jordan's nasty baseball cap.  Either way, I'm including this picture because you can see his top right tooth!  Go ahead...enlarge it!  Check it out.  Appreciate it...because the poor thing has been dealing with quite a bit of pain to get it through those gums.

A new toy! And some other nonsense

Ezra's been a bit on edge lately.  I'm 99% sure it's the teeth.  Poor thing - he finally got his pooping rhythm back down and BAM!  More teeth.  And dude, they're big.  Like, not chicklet huge or anything.  I'm just used to his teeny-tiny little bottom teeth.

We walked around downtown the other day and ended up finding a xylophone for Ezra.  I'd been hoping to find one for a little while and it seems Ez is pretty happy that we found it :)  After watching Jordan tap it a couple times, Ez started doing it too!  He's my little genius.  I took, probably, 25 pictures...trying to get one of him playing it or even looking at the camera.  No luck.  Here's what I got :

And because I've been pretty lazy, here's a couple from last week.

He's so freaking sweet.

Jordan & Ezra.  That's Ez's latest smirk.  Cute, huh?

He likes to practice standing...any way he can :)

If you think he looks like he's a handful, you're right.  Look at that face!

Me and Ez with the turtles (again).  We like the turtles.  I have no idea why I was looking so far up...we all know Jordan isn't that tall ;-)  This photo wouldn't have made it onto the blog if Ez didn't look so damn cute in it.

This one just makes me laugh.  He's rocking his post-bathtime, Uncle Josh hair-do.  Seriously, it looks a lot like my brother's hair :)

**********
As always, we're late to the party when it comes to movies.  Just watched Love and Other Drugs - very good.  Even Jordan liked it.  Love, love, love Anne Hathaway.  Love.  And Jake Gyllenhaal?  Yup.

Also watched The Other Woman.  Also really good.  Totally different than what we thought it would be.  Again, I adore Natalie Portman.  We happened to have just watched Black Swan a couple weeks ago, which was amazing, by the way, and so I was pleased to see she's able to make more than one great movie in a year's time :)  So there.  Netflix them if you're like us and never get out to the movies.
