Aw, spit.

Ezra thinks that when he gets a sip of water, it should be used as ammo...

Ezra and the Cantaloupe

We were awaiting the arrival of our new sofa, when we decided to have a snack...

Ezra, meet the cantaloupe.

Touch it.  Squeeze it.  Taste it.

Now take it out of the bowl.  Scatter the cantaloupe all around you.  Go ahead, it's fun.  Oh, and rip off that bib...who wears a bib, anyways?

Here's a video of the boy.  Sorry, I forgot (once again) that I can't flip it once it's shot vertically.  Whoops.

A Conversation with Ezra

Here's Mini-Man.

Check out how he bumps his head a few moments in, then gets mad, makes a fist and 'grrrrrr's'...makes me laugh every time.

This kid, man.  He's a cutie :)

Easy-E's New Ride

Let me preface this by saying - We cannot go into a toy store with the intention of just walking around.  That was the plan last week...and we left with this:

And an up close shot so you can see just how freaking happy this trike makes him :)

**********
I made these cookies 2 weekends ago.  SO good.  Great texture, pretty spectacular flavor...and they come together by dirtying only one mixing bowl!  Score.

I also made this Saag Aloo over that same weekend.  I'd never had it, but the recipe jumped out at me one day and I'm so glad it did.  It's great.  I did add extra garam masala and used an extra potato...but aside from that, the recipe was perfect as-is.  We ate it with warm naan, and I think next time we'll try rice instead - just to switch it up.

10 Months!

Yowza!

My sweet little baby is 10 months old today!  Double digits!

He's getting so big, so fast...I'm not sure that my brain can fully comprehend it.  I'm actually planning his 1st Birthday.  Really?  Really??

What's going on in Ezra's world these days, you ask?

*Mini-Man is a crawling machine!  Everywhere...to get to everything.
*He loves to pull up on us.
*Favorite foods of late?  Peaches, pears, cucumbers, and summer squash.
*He's starting to give high-fives!
*His smiles (with all 4 front teeth, by the way!) can melt ice.  Seriously.
*He gets super excited when we read together.
*His love for Mommy and Daddy is only slightly more evident than his love for DJ Lance Rock ;-)
*Little Man is wearing 3-6 month all the way up to 18 month clothing.
*He's a world-class kisser!  Okay, really, he just leans in with his mouth open wide...but he is cute as hell when he does it :)
*His favorite toys are Potsy, trucks, Frank the Singing Puppy, and his stacking rings.
*He is so freaking smart and sweet and cuddly and beautiful.  And beyond amazing.  And I tell him every single day.

In The Army Now

We've got ourselves a hyper-speed army-crawler!  He started it about 3.5 weeks ago and he's just been going at full speed, nonstop for the past week.  The.  Kid.  Is.  Into.  Everything.

Ev.ery.thing.

I just have to turn my head to grab my water bottle and BAM!  He's in the kitchen.

Or playing with the wall-heater knob.

Or the surge protector for the TV.

Or anything else he shouldn't be.

This, my friends, is the end of an era.  An era when I knew where my kid would be if I turned my back for a second.  Or at least I knew the general area he'd be in.  Now?  It's anyone's guess.

I'm tired just thinking about it.

Plus, he likes to look back when I call his name, then giggle at me, turn back and crawl away faster.  I'm telling you, if it wasn't so damn cute....

I'll try to get a quick video of him on the move.  Check back later.

And now, because of all of this, I'm awaiting the arrival of his brand new baby play yard gate.  I got the extra panels to make it bigger so he'd feel more like we're gating things off from him rather than gating him in to a smaller area.  Did I think that one through too much?

Either way, we're about to have our very own Baby Thunderdome right in our living room :)

Here's some pictures I took a little while ago and forgot to share...

This one is Ez's first time sitting in a highchair!  He all-out refused it during the first part of Lydia's visit here and demanded to be held the whole time ;-)  But at El Indio?  He loved it...and he even made friends with a guy who thought Ez was just amazingly cute.  He's mid "ooooooooooo!" here.

Here's a sleeping Ez shot.  Sometimes I forget what he looks like sleeping....like at 2:30am when he's ready to party down...

We had to stop at the grocery store for a few things...when we came across this magical automobile...

The owner was hanging out right beside it and seemed genuinely happy to have his masterpiece photographed - we weren't just creepy people taking pics of other people's cars :)

And finally, here's a cute one.

Pride.

We took Ezra to his first Pride Parade on Saturday!

He loves attention, I like to be outside, it was a gorgeous (albeit very warm) day...it was just great all around.

Here's me and Ez walking to the parade.  There were A LOT of people, so parking was pretty tough.  Turns out, parking a mile away isn't so bad when your kid can stay busy by trying to rip your hair out :)

Here's some of the floats from this year...

I realize this doesn't look too impressive, but these guys had a whole choreographed routine to N*Sync's Bye, Bye, Bye :)

Roller derby girls!

Yep, a giant shoe.  It was glorious.

Some pirates came to join in the fun...

And even a couple local churches got in the spirit :)

Heeeeeere's Ezra!  Oh, and Jordan too.
And here's my favorite.

 My fingers are crossed...

Just take it all in.  The Neuter Scooter...which is on Normal Street...showcasing it's Spay Pride.  Could it be much better?

I'm not sure what this guy or his awesome bike had to do with the parade, but he definitely deserved to have his picture taken.  And admired.

Ez had so much, he fell asleep as we started walking back to the car.

So we decided to stop and grab some iced coffee and let him get his nap on while we cooled off.

A funny poster hanging in the coffee shop.

This coffee shop was pretty great, too.  We drive by it at least a couple times a week but have never been in.  Normally, my jaw drops at the price most coffee houses charge for a cup...so I try to just make it at home and keep my jaw right where it belongs :)  But, Industrial Grind Coffee turned out to be an inexpensive, super-friendly, awesome place.

Tomatoes, & Wool and Swimming Pictures!

Mmmm.  Chocolate Cherry Tomatoes are good.  I'd definitely recommend them for your gardens next year.  Very thin skin, sweet, and super pretty.  A+, indeed.

**********
I'm on the hunt for more wool covers for Easy-E.

His little bottom just refuses to stay clear unless I only keep him in wool covers or his bamboo diapers.  It's a good thing I've been putting off buying bigger sized PUL covers.  Finally, my procrastinating has paid off!

I've also found that his bottom seems to really like his Motherlove Diaper Rash and Thrush cream.  Naturally, it's like 3 times the price of the other cloth-diaper-friendly creams that we've got...but it keeps the rash at bay.  Thankfully, I can alternate between that and his CJ's BUTTer, which is almost the same thing AND I've got a bunch of it, and we're staying pretty clear.  Poor kid's got some sensitive skin.

If Ezra ever finds out how much I talked about his butt, he's going to be really mad at me.  Like, I'm probably going to end up in a bad nursing home when I get old, kind of mad.

**********
We got together with a couple of Ezra's friends this weekend.  Thankfully, one family has access to a pool...which means Ez got to go swimming!  We tried out a kiddie pool and he was not thrilled.  We weren't quite sure how he'd fare in the real thing.  Turns out, he loves it :)

And here's some pictures we took:

Ez was really excited on the way there!

 It was a baby pool-looza!

This was his reaction when some girls in bikinis walked in...

Me and my E-Z Rider hanging out in our floatie

We kind of took over the whole pool...

Splashy-splash-splash!

 Ez and his dad...

He thought he wanted to dive out of my arms :)

Ocean Beach Adventures

The weather has been unusually hot and humid here since last weekend.  We took the opportunity to go to the beach to cool off a little.   Ezra's been to the beach before, but it was far too cold to even attempt the water then.  Not that the water was much warmer on Wednesday, but we gave it a shot anyways.

Easy-E had a great time watching the waves and the people...but not so much fun dipping his feet in the water.  Maybe it was just too cold?

Here's some pictures we took...

Ez getting ready for some beach time!

All dressed up in his rash guard, trunks and hat!

Hanging out with his Uncle Avner.

Me, Ezra and Granny Lydia.

He wasn't quite sure he liked the water too much, so clinging to Mom seemed like the safe way to go.

After the beach, we walked around the OB Farmer's Market for a little while.  Always good people-watching :)
The sun was getting low, so we headed over to Sunset Cliffs to take a little walk and unwind.  Some kids were jumping from the cliffs (possibly not the safest thing they could do on a Wednesday evening) and there was even a wedding ceremony on the cliffs.  Great day for it, too.

My little cutie taking a walk along Sunset Cliffs.

Mr. Smiles playing with his adoring fans.

Me and Little Man on the cliffs.

Happy-scream-time on Dad's shoulders!
